This cartoon is considered the first full-length film released by Ghibli studio, and accordingly, much depended on its success in the future fate of Miyazaki and his friend Takahata. The bet is on. The film waited for success... But judging by our days, the cartoon badly lacks some understatement and philosophicness, which are so characteristic of the “Witch Delivery Service” and “Gone Ghosts”. As a result, the cartoon seemed to me very interesting in drawing, as, in principle, all the works of Miyazaki, but not for the heart and soul.
